Sky Lagoon Iceland: Guide & Reviews
Opened in 2021, Sky Lagoon is the new upscale geothermal spa just minutes from downtown Reykjavik. Is it worth it? How does it differ from the Blue Lagoon? We tell you everything.
What is Sky Lagoon?

The infinity pool overlooking the ocean
Sky Lagoon is a geothermal spa located in Kópavogur, a suburb of Reykjavík. Its main asset is its 70-meter infinity pool with breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Ocean. The decor is inspired by Icelandic nature and history, with turf walls reminiscent of traditional houses.
Admission is reserved for children aged 12 and over. Children under 12 are not allowed.
Sky Lagoon or Blue Lagoon?

Sunset at Sky Lagoon
This is the question everyone asks! Both offer a high-end experience, but they are different.
Blue Lagoon
- Milky blue water rich in silica.
- Located near the airport (ideal for arrival/departure).
- Very large, can accommodate many people.
- Children allowed from 2 years old.
- Iconic (must-see for a first trip).
Sky Lagoon
- Clear geothermal water.
- Located near Reykjavik (ideal for evenings).
- More intimate and "design" atmosphere.
- Adults only (12+).
- The 7-step Ritual is included (except Pure Lite).
- Ocean view.
Our verdict: If you have time, do both! They are complementary. If you have to choose: Blue Lagoon for the unique color of the water, Sky Lagoon for relaxation and sunsets.
Which package to choose?
Sky Lagoon offers three main packages. Prices are dynamic and vary depending on the time and seasonality.
Pure Lite Pass
Access to the lagoon only. Includes public changing rooms and a towel. Does not include the 7-step Ritual.
Pure Pass (Recommended)

The 7-step Ritual
The ritual is inspired by Icelandic bathing traditions. It takes place in a dedicated area.
- Lagoon: Relax in the warm geothermal water.
- Cold Plunge: Take a dip in the glacial pool (10°C) to stimulate the immune system.
- Sauna: Warm up in the sauna with a view of the ocean. Breathtaking!
- Cold Mist: Walk through a cold mist to refresh yourself.
- Scrub: Apply the Sky Body Scrub (almond and sesame oil) for soft skin.
- Steam: Let the scrub penetrate in the steam room.
- Shower: Rinse off the scrub and return to the lagoon.
Where is Sky Lagoon located?
Address: Vesturvör 44, 200 Kópavogur. It is located in the industrial port area of Kópavogur, which creates a surprising contrast once inside the lagoon.
